The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center (WDRC) held its second annual Compete for a Cause Scrabble Tournament Saturday, Jan. 29, at Nicki’s Bella Marina in their upstairs event room. Word lovers from all over Whatcom County and even outside of Washington came to play, totaling 50 competitors.
Elizabeth Hart, defending champion from last year’s games, was once again the tournament winner. She will have her name engraved on the WDRC tournament winner’s plaque. Second place went to Sheri Rego. The WDRC and their volunteer tournament director, Erika Werdal, also gave out awards for the highest word scores, the most bingos, and open division champion. The event raised nearly $1500 for the WDRC.
