Whatcom County’s housing market is looking strong so far in 2013, according to recent statistics released by the Northwest Multiple Listing Service.
Local NMLS brokers reported 143 closings single-family homes and condominiums in February in Whatcom County, an 11.7 percent increase from 128 closing reported during the same month in 2012. February’s median sale price rose 6.7 percent to $233,500. The average sale price rose 5.8 percent to $249,326.
Between January and February of this year, there were 285 closings reported. During the same months last year, 246 closings were reported.
Across the state, brokers reported 4,205 closings. Median price statewide was $247,500; average sale price was $304,354, according to NMLS statistics.
The Northwest Multiple Listing Service, based in Kirkland, Wash., includes more than 21,000 real estate brokers in 21 counties in Washington state.
