Two local students have received scholarships from the Northwest Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

Glen Marquardt of Bellingham is entering his junior year at the University of California Berkeley.

Haley Grunhurd of Ferndale is entering her junior year at Washington State University.

Both students will be recognized during an award ceremony on Dec. 3 at McIntyre Hall in Mount Vernon.

The institute’s scholarship fund was created in 2006. It is available to students from Whatcom, Skagit, Island or San Juan counties who are entering their junior years at an accredited school of architecture.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, creativity and technical excellence. Applications are available for future nominees.
