WTA donates 812 pounds of food from "Food-for-Fare" Day

On October 13, 2008, WTA collected 812 pounds of non-perishable food items, collected from riders and employees on “Food-for-Fare” Day. Throughout the day, riders could contribute a can of food in lieu of the regular cash fare.

Donated items were contributed to the “Feed the Need” Community Food Drive, sponsored by the Industrial Credit Union, Haggen Food and Pharmacy, and Cascade Radio Group. The “Feed the Need” Community Food Drive collected over 200,000 pounds of non-perishable food for Whatcom County Food Banks.
