WWU announces new classes for teaching English to foreign speakers

Western Washington University’s Woodring College of Education will offer online classes for its Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certificate program beginning fall 2012.

Community members and college students are welcome to apply to the program, according to the university.

Students enrolled in the TESOL Certificate Program have the option of taking courses solely online, in classrooms on WWU’s campus, a combination of both online and in-person classes or through intensive summer programs in Bellingham and Mexico.

In fall 2012, Woodring College’s TESOL program will split into the TESOL certificate program and the English Language Learners endorsement program.

The TESOL program focuses on preparing students to teach both internationally and with adult populations within the U.S. The ELL program focuses on preparing current or prospective teachers in Washington state to meet the needs of English language learners in their classrooms.
