Western Washington University’s IDEA (InterDisciplinary Entrepreneurship in Action) Institute has open spots for business professionals in a course called Innovative Engineering I: Create. The course starts Monday, Sept. 28.
The combo course is offered to Western students as well as community learners. It focuses on implementing a systematic approach to innovation and innovative thinking.
Typically, about five business professionals sign up for the course each quarter, instructor Denny Organ said. Having students and business professionals together in the classroom is a key part of the course and provides value for everyone, he said.
“We’ve had a couple CEOs come and when they’re sitting side by side with students the students get all jazzed and the CEOs love being there with students,” he said.
Organ said the classes are applicable to leaders in any organization or industry.
Course sessions go from 2-3:50 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays between from Sept. 28 to Dec. 11. They are in Communications Facility room 26, on Western’s campus. The course costs $1,000.
