WWU marketing students take second in international competition

Three marketing students from Western Washington University have placed second in the Intercollegiate Marketing Competition, which took place Feb. 22-24 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The team included Shannon Gnagey of Edmonds, Kyle Sonntag of Kirkland and Selena Maisonpierre of Seattle.

The annual competition is organized by students from Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. Students from across Canada and the U.S. attend.

Competitors are tasked to come up with solutions to the contemporary marketing issue within three hours. Once finished, they give a 20-minute presentation to a panel of judges, then answer questions in a 10-minute Q-and-A session.

This year’s competition centered around a Vancouver-based car-sharing cooperative called Modo.
