Western Washington University offers a nine-month, weekly evening class this fall designed to prepare participants for in-house or freelance editing work.
The class, titled “Professional Editing: For Print and Online,” is offered through WWU’s Extended Education program. It begins Sept. 26.
An information session for the class will be held from 5:30-6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Village Books in Fairhaven.
The course includes training in verbal and visual aspects of editing, including layout, color, use of photographs and informational graphics. Classes are taught in a university computer lab, where participants will learn to use industry-standard software programs.
The class is open to community members. But participants should have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and some experience writing and editing in a business or news environment.
