A team of Western Washington University students took first place in the Milgard Invitational Case Competition on Social Responsibility, held in April at the University of Washington, Tacoma.
Each team in the competition had 72 hours to research and analyze a corporate social-responsibility case involving Nordstrom Inc. before presenting their recommendations to a panel of judges representing a broad base of industry expertise.
The team consisted of students Mitchell Gould of Graham, Crystal Kizanis of Kent and Garrett Mark of Vancouver. all majoring in manufacturing and supply chain management, and Natnael Tekeste of Seattle, who is majoring in operations management.
Stella Hua, an associate professor of manufacturing and supply chain management at WWU, was the team’s adviser.
The students beat teams from Gonzaga University, Oregon State University, the University of Hawaii, the University of Puget Sound, and University of Washington, Tacoma. It is the second year in a row that a WWU student team won this competition.
