WWU to host REI's corporate responsibility manager

Kirk Myers of REI will be a guest speaker from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at Western Washington University.

Myers is the corporate responsibility manager for REI. His visit is part of the Ethics and Social Responsibility Executive Strategy Speaker Series, hosted by WWU’s College of Business and Economics.

The free event, which is open to the public, will be held in Room 120 of the Communications Facility on WWU’s campus.

Myers has led REI’s sustainable business strategy, focusing on greenhouse-gas emissions, waste reduction, energy use and sustainable forestry. He also works on sustainability opportunities that connect with REI’s products and supply chain.

He has worked with REI since 2002, after working in a variety of fields, including social entrepreneurship, outdoor instruction and environmental work.

Myers received his MBA in sustainable business from Bainbridge Graduate Institute.
